Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and First Responders

The World Health Organization reports that in 2008, over 410,000 burn injuries occurred in the United States of America, with approximately 40,000 requiring hospitalization, and in 2004, nearly 11 million people worldwide were burned severely enough to require emergency medical services (EMS). (https://www.who.int/mediacentre/factsheets/fs365/en/index.html).

Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and First Responders are typically the first professionals on the scene of an accident. With the prevalence of burn injuries EMS provide primary care on minor burns. As first responders are the first professionals on the scene of an accident, they can particularly benefit from having BurnFree Pain Relieving Gels, Sterile Burn and Wound Dressings and Fire/Trauma Blankets on hand when responding to an emergency.

From first- and second-degree burns, sunburns, friction burns, and chemical burns that have been thoroughly rinsed, BurnFree can be applied to most types of burns to help treat and soothe. Because BurnFree is not oil-based, it does not seal in the chemicals making it safe for use on chemical burns.

As a first aid treatment, BurnFree is ideal. BurnFree gel and dressings cool the burn site, relieve pain, calm the burn victim, and help stop the burn progression. As a first responder, it is important for EMS professionals to do all they can to prevent the injured from going into shock. Because BurnFree immediately relieves pain, it helps to keep the victim calm.

EMS/First Responder professionals will find that BurnFree covers the burn, comforts the patient, and helps to prevent contamination. And because BurnFree does not evaporate, it cools burns through transference of the heat into the gel system, and is viscous enough that it does not run off the wound.

BurnFree is an excellent choice for first aid burn treatment use by EMS/First Responders because it is portable and easy to use. Dressings are sterile and utilize a foam pad that holds the gel and keeps it in place at the wound site. BurnFree fire blankets utilize a worsted wool blanket soaked in the gel that designed to hold 12 times it weight in gel and is perfect in covering widespread bodily burn injury at once while transporting to a medical facility.

BurnFree is a highly viscous gel that effectively stays on a burn injury rather than running off the wound as water would. It is easily absorbed into the matrix of the wool fire blanket and the open celled foam used in the sterile dressings, to cool the injury effectively.

All first responders should have BurnFree Products on hand for all burn injuries.
