The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that in 2011 there were over 5,000 injuries in the heating, air conditioning and refrigeration mechanics and installation industry. Injured workers spent a median 16 days away from work as a result of their injury. HVACR technicians have a rate of injuries and illnesses that is higher than the average for all occupations.

Hazards include electrical shock and burns, among other injuries. (Bureau of Labor Statistics, U.S. Department of Labor, Occupational Outlook Handbook, 2012-13 Edition, Heating, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration Mechanics and Installers)

HVACR technicians should have BurnFree with them on every repair or installation job. Burns from hot surfaces, fire, super heated steam, high pressure gasses, and the exhaust of boilers can be treated with BurnFree gels or dressings. BurnFree gel soothes, cools, and stops the progression of burns.

The use of BurnFree on a job site will stop the progression of the burn, allowing the injured the time to get to a medical facility if necessary. Since some job sites are remote, BurnFree is an essential product in every HVACR technician’s first aid kit.

Freon, which is used as a refrigerant, is highly corrosive and can cause severe chemical burns. After thorough rinsing, BurnFree can be used to soothe the pain and keep the affected area sterile.

BurnFree is predominantly pure di-ionized water which is thickened with a gelling agent to enable the water to stay in place over the wound site. While water is effective as a first aid for burns, it is difficult to keep in place. BurnFree gels the water to allow for effective and easy cooling directly on the burn site. BurnFree also has a wetting agent with the gel system to allow better penetration of the water into clothing or debris imbedded in the wound. This wetting agent allows the softening of this material to help ease the debridement process.

BurnFree never uses anesthetic drugs such as lidocaine in its formulation that can cause allergic reactions or is prohibited by many local regulations worldwide.. BurnFree Products should always be kept on hand.
